Q. Why do we provide an ACA and CA research service?
A. Prior to 1996, the ICAEW published the names, firms and locations of those students who had successfully qualified as Chartered Accountants. Needless to say it was not difficult to contact these applicants. The Big Six firms (as they were then) were clearly unhappy to be targeted in this way and the Institute bowed to pressure and subsequently agreed to review the situation.

Today the ICAEW continues to publish details of those applicants who have successfully qualified by listing only the students’ initials, surname and location of the examination hall. Applicants have become harder to source and this, together with the short supply, has pushed salaries to an all time level.

The ICAS CA Pass List is similar to the ICAEW however with 2 Big Five firms dropping the ICAEW in favour of ICAS, information from this Pass List has become very useful indeed.

Q. What do we do?
A. Our researchers painstakingly call almost every accountancy practice within the UK to source applicants. It may take several calls over a period of time to locate and speak to each individual about his/her career progression. Many students and newly qualified accountants are regularly away from the office on audit or on secondment to a client. Our success speaks for itself in that we are able to source and supply data of approximately 89% of all pass lists.

Most of our researchers have worked for Heywood since 1997 and are exceptionally experienced and discrete in their approach. Likewise, the vast majority of our clients have been subscribers to our research service since the beginning.

Q. What information do we provide?
A. We obtain and provide you with the following information on a daily basis, Monday to Friday:

Name of the newly qualified accountant
Home address
Home/mobile telephone number
Personal email address
Age
Work experience
Language skills
Employer’s name and number
Job requirements
Out of contract date

Our service covers the following pass lists and locations:

ICAEW TC2/FAE London & M25
ICAEW TC2/FAE Rest of UK
ICAEW TC1 Whole of UK
ICAS TPE London & M25
ICAS TPE Rest of UK

Q. How long do I have to commit for?
A. Our agreements run for a minimum of 6 months on a rolling contract due to the fact that there are two sittings per year.

Q. Why should I subscribe to all services?
A. Many newly qualified accountants are happy to consider relocating both within the UK and overseas. Bear in mind that the best applicants do not always live on your client’s doorstep.

Subscribing to the ICAEW TC1 data also makes sense. Creating a relationship with students over a period of time will ensure that they are familiar with your brand and should generate loyalty towards you. You want these students to contact you first upon qualification. (Some subscribers to this Pass List post out Good Luck cards, Salary Surveys and invitations to career seminars).

Q. In what format do you provide the information?
A. All data is emailed in the universally accepted .PDF format. Emails are sent daily after office hours although we do have the flexibility to provide the data less frequently. If you require an alternative format, please ask.

Q. What do I do with the information?
A. This is clearly up to you. The majority of subscribers telephone or write to these applicants directly, highlighting their current job orders. A successful placement would generate a considerable recruitment fee and therefore subscription to this service should pay for itself many times over.

Q. How many consultancies receive this information?
A. We have always assured our subscribers that no more than 15 consultancies would ever receive this information from us. We want our subscribers to truly benefit from our service.

Q. Can I Buy Data Captured Lists?
A. We can also supply data-captured information from previous sittings. Let us have your requirements so we can provide you with the numbers available and a bespoke price.

Q. How soon can I receive information?
A. The ICAEW November 2006 Pass List was released on Friday 15 December 2006 and we started supplying details of newly qualified ACA accountants to our subscribers on Wednesday 3 January 2007.

The ICAS November 2006 Pass List was released on 8 December 2006 and as a new service, we start to supply details of newly qualified CA accountants to our subscribers on Monday 19 March 2007.

Data from previous and current Pass Lists can be supplied within a few days.
